At the kind invitation of Professor K.Clemitshaw, Head of the Department of Earth Sciences at Royal Holloway University in Britain, Prof. Dr.. Osama Ahmed Helal, Head of the Geology Department, at the Microsoft Teams meeting from one o'clock Libya local time, Thursday afternoon, January 12, 2023, for a full hour, with the generous participation of both Dr. Awad Bilal, Head of the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Benghazi, and from the Libyan Society for Earth Sciences, represented by Mr. Yousef Botroma.

The following was discussed:

  What skills do companies in the energy industry in your area want their geosciences employees to have?

  In the current period, is it still important for potential students/employees to have limited and clearly defined “oil-related” modules in their master’s study?

  Are there particular barriers to students or junior staff achieving a Master of Geosciences in Energy at RHUL – either in person or via distance learning – and if so, how can these be addressed?

  Are there other issues/challenges that you anticipate?
