Description
The division is interested in preparing researchers and experts in the fields of natural geography such as meteorology, water resources studies, the atmosphere, water and land, and desertification, and they are able to provide scientific studies of natural geographical phenomena.
Objectives
Objectives
- Providing distinguished education interested in scientific research in the field of physical geography, with a focus on preparing applied research related to the study of various natural phenomena and supporting them technically through the use of maps, geographic information systems and remote sensing.
- Preparing qualified cadres to teach in educational institutions.
- Preparing specialized competencies that contribute to studying and addressing the problems facing society and meeting the needs of the Libyan labor market in related disciplines.
- Partnership with research centers and government agencies, to cooperate in studying issues that contribute to the development, construction and development of the country.
- Encouraging scientific research and training geographers in applied field research related to natural phenomena and developing their capabilities in the field of using modern geographical techniques in the field of geographic reality analysis.
Outcomes
1- Preparing graduates capable of conducting scientific studies in the fields of climate, biogeography, water resources, desertification and geomorphological studies.
2- Preparing human cadres capable of teaching in universities.
3- Preparing researchers and consultants in public and private institutions.
4- Developing the capabilities of researchers in the fields of geographic techniques and their uses in the fields of water, climate change and desertification follow-up.
Certificate Rewarded
The department grants a doctoral degree after the student completes (24) study units, and succeeds in the scientific dissertation examination.
Entry Reuirements
1. The student must have a master’s degree from Libyan universities, in the same specialization, or an equivalent from universities recognized by the authority concerned with the equivalence of certificates. It is permissible to accept students who hold master’s degrees related to the specialization of geography, provided that they are loaded with remedial or complementary materials determined by the department.
2. The student must pass the written and oral exam determined by the department.
3. Admission takes place according to the capacity of the department to accommodate students, according to the available capabilities.
4. Non-Libyan students may be accepted according to the conditions set by the competent authorities.
5. The approval of the employer.
6. Compliance with all regulations and legislation in force in Libyan universities and the internal regulations of the college.
Study Plan
The PhD in Division of Physical Geography prepares students to qualify for PhD in Division of Physical Geography. The student studies several subjects which have been carefully chosen in this major to cover its different aspects.
It comprises 3 Semesters of study, in which the student will study a total of 130 units, which include 12 units of general subjects, and 12 major units
Study plan for this program is shown below:
