The Department of Soil and Water is one of the largest departments in the Faculty of Agriculture. The Department of Soil and Water includes 4 study programmes, which are: Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences - majoring in Soil Sciences, Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences - majoring in Water Sciences, Master of Agricultural Sciences - majoring in Soil Sciences, Master of Agricultural Sciences - majoring in Water Sciences .

 The Department of Soil and Water includes twenty-three faculty staff members who hold a Master’s degree and PhD from different schools. The Department of Soil and Water has recently developed undergraduate and postgraduate courses and educational facilities in the department, in line with the requirements of the labor market.

 The department annually supplies the labor market with a number of agricultural engineers holding bachelor's and master's degrees. The Soil and Water Department has a number of specialized laboratories, including a microbiology laboratory, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) laboratory, soil, plant and water analysis laboratory, soil physics laboratory, water and irrigation science laboratory, and a plant nutrition laboratory.

The Department of Soil and Water contributes to the development of the efficiency of agricultural production, by solving some problems in the field of soil and water facing institutions and individuals specialized in the agricultural field, also some faculty members in the department have research projects aimed at raising Efficiency of agricultural production through the optimal use of production elements. The Soil and Water Department has good relations and continuous cooperation with scientific institutions specialized in the agricultural field and other related fields.

Vision

The Department of Soil and Water - Faculty of Agriculture - University of Tripoli looks forward to raising and developing the efficiency of agricultural production by contributing to research and studies in the field of Soil and Water to solve problems facing institutions and individuals specialized in the agricultural field.

Mission

Building national capabilities and raising their efficiency so that they are able to contribute to sustainable development, prepare distinguished agricultural cadres in the field of soil and water, and conduct applied studies and research to serve the community and develop the environment and be able to meet the needs of the local and regional labor market.

Objectives

1. Preparing undergraduate students and qualifying them scientifically and practically to work in the fields of soil and water sciences.

2. Continuing to expand knowledge in the fields of soil and water through postgraduate studies through a postgraduate master's degree.

3. Carrying out research and consultations in the fields of soil and water as a contribution and confirmation of integration between the university and society.

4. Knowledge communication with the corresponding scientific institutions locally and globally, and strengthening it through joint experiences, workshops, seminars and scientific conferences.
